A day in the life of Mandy.................... ~sigh~...................

OK.

Seriously..................... this kind of stuff only happens to me, LOL! And I just have to laugh about it!
So I am on my way to the doc today because of my stupid cough, and of course I get lost, as always.... It just wouldn't be a normal day for me if I didn't get lost driving somewhere :)
I made it there ok and everything, and the doc said I have allergies (ugh) and then I proceeded to drive home, in the middle of rush hour of course, so traffic is super heavy coming out of the cities. So then, as I am on a busy busy highway, where the speed limit is 70 mph, my car starts to lurch back and forth. Something to the effect of sitting atop an elephant as it is lumbering along. I leaned over and checked my gas gage (gauge or gage? I had a really embarassing moment once in front of a guy I was dating where I actually pronounced it GOUGE ugh.....!) and it said the tank was half full. So I thought, no big deal, I'll just coast along to the nearest stop and see what's going on. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigggghhhhhhhttttttttttttttttttttttttttt.
Well, a few more lurches and I found myself pulling my gigantic purple elephant-car off to the shoulder and waving my arms around pleading with my car to keep moving, ah, to no avail. It whined to a stop right along a busy exit ramp, leaving me to wonder how long I would have to sit in my sweltering "heated" car til help arrived. Heated, you say? Yes, it was 80 degrees out, and my car was "heated." A short time ago, my air conditioning stopped working, and it is simply "stuck" on the heat setting, so wherever I travel to I must endure not only no air conditioning, but HEAT blowing and actually scorching my feet at times. So, in essence, I was spazzing.
Now, at a time like this, every woman wishes  glorious knight in shining armour would come rescue her..... atop his beautiful white steed and shining colors............
And then it's back to reality, where the Brother-in-law has to come with a gas can............................... pop............................... c'est la vie.......
And so I was rescued, clumsy mess and all, about to pass out from all the heat.

And for some laughs, check this out! :)

Well, I am going to cough myself to sleep now, I hope all of you have a wonderful weekend!!!!!

Memorial Day, 2009

It's amazing how life changes so quickly sometimes, it is already time to open the pool again for the summer and those annoying little black bees are already invading the water, ready to stab the nearest belly or armpit that is within floating distance of them as they are flailing their little legs about trying to get out of the water. I remember Dad once tried to "rescue" one, it was the last attempt after he pulled his sore hand out of the water, with an expressive look on his face something like "this is the thanks I get?"

And this summer, the house is without our Beloved Jasmine. She was such a good little pup, always so full of energy and happiness, she was the "spark" to everyday life for me here. I remember being so frustrated when I stayed out too late and came hom to her panting and whining at the door waiting for me to come in, waking the entire house. I knew there would be a time I would miss it though, and sadly, that time has come. I think most people have their "Old Yeller," and for me there will never be another Jazzy. She went from this house as peacefully as she came into it, quietly, and not wanting to disturb anyone. But now I like to think she is romping and playing, chewing on mice and rabbit and chasing coyotes.
And Buddy still comes around now and then looking for her, but he doesn't come up to the door and call for her like he used to. He would bark til the cows came home for Jazzy to come out and play. But now he is more preoccupied with Nellie and Scooter chasing him back home.

Other new things this summer: School and Swing Dancing. I am now on a career path to be a cosmetologist. I am not going to school to just cut hair, mind you, but to perform an array of beautifying procedures. Never did I think i would actually go to school to fuss over hair and makeup and beautifying myself and everyone I know, but I do feel there are many ways this can be used, and the most important being to Glorify God by ministering in some way using what I have learned. I am now able to perform facials, manicures, pedicures, artificial nails, (sculpted, tips, and overlays) haircuts, perms, color, foils, relaxers, and updo's. Granted, I am still pretty basic with all of that, but it feels good just to say I can. And it is quite a change from the software industry, although I did have to go to the office today to help Dad with some things.
